What is airsoft?
Airsoft is a game which is playing with replica guns to shoot your opponent with a 6mm plastic BB. There are various forms of airsoft. Close Quarter Combat/Battle (CQC/CQB) is in a small space (often indoors) and emphasizes speed and individual play. In Military Simulation (MilSim) games the individuals wear uniforms and organize into squads, platoons and companies. Some MilSim events can have thousands of participants. Open Play is more like a pick-up game where people are organized into teams and given objectives. Even though the teams are ad-hoc, people need to work together in order to win the game.

How do I get started?
A lot of people start in back yards or empty fields. CMA provides a safe, supervised environment which is compliant with all local laws; the best way to get started is to come to an open play. If you have never played before, we recommend you rent our equipment before investing in airsoft gear. When you come to an open play, we encourage people to dress either in tan or green clothes. Any color is acceptable but you want to avoid bright clothing like white or red. Good footwear is important and hiking shoes or boots are also recommended. (see the  "Open Play")

Where can I buy gear?

You can spend as little or as much as you want on gear. Comfortable clothes in an earth tone color works great. If you want to have more of a military look, Mickey’s Surplus is only minutes away from our field (

You also have a wide range of prices for guns. While you can get guns at big-box stores or very cheap guns online, we can tell you there is nothing more frustrating than getting that perfect shot and having your gun fail. Typically, a reliable gun is going to cost at least $125.

Airsoft guns are modeled after real guns (Assault rifles, Snipers, etc). For a first gun, we typically suggest either an M4 (M16 carbine) or an AK 47. The M4 is very modular and easy to extend, it is also the most popular rifle and easy to repair. There are modestly priced AK47’s that are very reliable.

Where can I get more information?
The internet is certainly your friend. YouTube has a lot of videos and is a great place to start, but there are also many forums and websites. Many fields, including CMA, have a strong Facebook presence ( Most importantly, we are enthusiastic about airsoft and would love to answer your questions. You can also send inquiries to
